While many Taiwan manufacturers in various industries have already
moved part or all of their production facilities to mainland China
to take advantage of cheaper land and labor costs there, according
to industry sources, approximately 70 percent of the island's garage
tool and equipment producers have chosen to stay in Taiwan to work on
developing more competitive products to match market demands. Recently,
several local companies have utilized their advanced technical skills
to incorporate high-level digital features into their new automotive
testing equipment.
Tien Chien Enterprise Co., a leading Taiwan producer of DIY power
tools, auto tools, hand tools and more, expects to launch its new
digital battery tester with its smaller and more convenient size
in February 2002. The new tester will provide a simple and convenient
way for drivers to check their vehicles' battery conditions quickly
and efficiently, said a company spokesperson. Due to the tester's
smaller size than traditional models, it can easily fit into the
palm of the user's hand. Owing to these user-friendly features,
the company expects the new device to quickly gain a good reputation
with buyers.
Trisco Technology Corp., a Taiwan-based technical manufacturer of
automotive testing instruments and accessories, also plans to
introduce its new higher precision digital scanners and meters
to the market early next year. Although the new products are
priced around fifty percent higher than their analog counterparts,
the firm notes that consumer-friendly features such as ease of use
combined with a high level accuracy will help to attract more customers
and maintain the firm's overall market competitiveness.
